Free Online FBX to USDZ Converter
FBX and USDZ solve different problems. FBX is Autodesk's interchange format and the long-standing lingua franca of game art.
Converting to USDZ makes sense when it opens in AR on iPhone and iPad.
Upload your FBX file
Select one model together with its MTL, BIN and texture files. Resource filenames must be unique; the combined size must fit the upload limit. For missing resources, package the model as GLB in its source application.
Scale factor. Leave empty to keep the original size.

How to convert FBX to USDZ
Select your FBX file
Choose one model and its companion material, buffer and image files when applicable. The combined upload limit is 50 MB.
Check the preview and options
Check orientation, dimensions and required resources. Image reliefs are previewed after conversion; set their width and depth first.
Convert and download USDZ
Convert, then inspect the result and any warnings. Textured OBJ results download as a ZIP containing the OBJ, MTL and textures.
Why choose this converter
Real mesh conversion
Geometry is parsed and exported into the destination format.
Inspect the result
Use the preview, output statistics and format warnings to check the conversion.
Browser workflow
Three.js reads local resources and exports static meshes; USDZ output stays in your browser.
Static model scope
Animations, rigs, CAD construction history and unsupported material extensions are outside this converter's scope.
What Is a FBX File? / USDZ
FBX
FBX is Autodesk's interchange format and the long-standing lingua franca of game art. It carries meshes, skeletons, animation curves, cameras and lights, and remembers units — which is why studios still trade assets in it even though the format is proprietary.
- Carries rigs, animation and scene hierarchy
- First-class import in Unity and Unreal
- Handles units, so scale survives a round trip
- Proprietary and complex to parse
- No open-source Python reader, so server-side conversion is limited
- Binary variant is opaque to inspection
USDZ
USDZ is Pixar's USD packaged as an uncompressed ZIP. It is the format Apple chose for AR Quick Look, so a USDZ file opens in augmented reality on an iPhone with a single tap — no app required.
- One-tap AR on iOS and iPadOS
- Carries PBR materials and animation
- Strict packaging rules keep assets self-contained
- Poor support outside Apple's ecosystem
- Server-side tooling is still immature
- ZIP must be uncompressed, which is easy to get wrong

Before you convert
- Confirm the source really is FBX — a renamed file will not parse.
- Check the bounding box in the preview; conversion does not fix a wrong scale.
- Decimate dense meshes before converting if the target is a slicer.
Common problems
The upload is rejected
Check the file really is FBX and is under 50MB.
The preview is empty
The file is probably corrupt or uses an unsupported feature. Re-export it from the source application.
The result looks different from the original
Read the format notes above — some loss is inherent to the target format, not a conversion error.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I convert FBX to USDZ here?
Yes. Select the file and any companion resources, check the preview, then convert and download.
Is an account or payment needed?
No. Available conversions are free and do not require an account.
What is the file size limit?
50 MB combined, with at most one model and 63 companion files.
Will materials and textures survive?
Basic materials and embedded textures are preserved where supported. Include MTL/BIN/images with the source; inspect the result for differences. Textured OBJ downloads include companion resources in a ZIP.
Are animation and rigs preserved?
No animation or rig preservation is promised. Browser conversions export static meshes; check proprietary material features and real-world scale in the result.
Are uploaded models published?
No. Conversion does not add models to the public gallery. Browser USDZ export stays local; server conversions use temporary download files.
